Selmes is a community-focused charitable trust that offers meaningful employment to people with disabilities. We are looking for an energetic person to work alongside staff with intellectual and physical disabilities and who will inspire, encourage, be a role model, plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
This role requires some knowledge of horticulture, production, nursery operations, logistics, inventory, best practice and plant disease. Horticulture background desirable but not essential. Eagerness to learn is a must.
Rostered weekend work is required, serving customers, using POS systems, answering phones, opening and end-of-day tasks.
Experience or knowledge working with disabled would also be an advantage.
Remuneration aligned with experience and plant knowledge.
Required Skills
- Monitor plant health and act promptly.
- Safe handling, use, storage and disposal of chemicals.
- General nursery duties, e.g. weeding, pruning, transplanting, watering, etc.; you'll need to be prepared to get your hands dirty!
- Ability to work with customers and people of various abilities.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Communication is key!
