With a fantastic team of garden experts, working to provide gardeners with innovative ideas alongside our quality plants, we are looking for an energetic people leader to join our team at our Havelock North branch as an Assistant Manager, working very closely with the Branch Manager to help lead growth in store.
About the role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, this challenging role will see you leading a team in a Retail Store. The role requires strong leadership with extensive retail experience essential and horticultural experience preferred.
We are looking for a leader who creates an engaging culture that values and strives for success and facilitates the growth and development of a retail team.
Key focus
- Be very customer focused and be able to inspire your team to deliver high levels of customer service.
- Work with the Branch Manager to develop and implement business strategies with a strong focus on people and business performance.
- Achievement of individual store business plans and sales growth.
- Effectively control costs, particularly around labour and purchases.
- Coach and develop the branch team to achieve career goals and internal progression opportunities.
- Ensure the achievement of operational and visual merchandising standards within branches.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrate commercial acumen, a strong understanding of the commercial contributors to profitability and a proven track record of successful results.
- Experience in leveraging marketing and advertising initiatives to drive sales.
- Previous success in leading a team of retail staff.
- 2+ years retail management experience.
