Role: Plant Tissue Culture Assistant
Location: Hastings, Hawke's Bay
Waimea Plant Laboratories (WPL) is a division of the Waimea Group (Waimea Nurseries) with an aim to be the leading Tissue Culture laboratory in New Zealand. WPL has an existing workforce of 16 staff, both full and part time who have a long-standing history with the business.
We are looking to employ a motivated self-starter into our position of ‘Plant Tissue Culture Assistant’. This is a permanent position which could be full time or part time. Part time hours either mornings 7.00am to 11.30am or afternoons from 12.00pm – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys solitary, fine detail work and thrives in an output focused environment.
This role focuses on the plant tissue culture propagation process which will involve assessing and dividing small plant material with a scalpel in a sterile and efficient manner. Due to the small scale of our work, the successful candidate must have good vision and be able to work in a brightly lit environment with a small subject matter. Experience isn’t a requirement but a willingness to adopt change and strive for continuous improvement will be essential, as Waimea Plant Laboratories is currently in a growth and development phase.
