A recent Government announcement (October 8) has confirmed that plant producers employers can still benefit from the Apprenticeship Boost initiative in 2025 but only for first year apprentices.
The Government is making changes to Apprenticeship Boost and from 1 January 2025, it will only be available for employers of first-year apprentices in targeted sectors with skills shortages. Horticulture, viticulture and forestry fit into the skilled shortage category.
Apprenticeship Boost is a payment made to employers to help them keep and take on new apprentices. It provides up to $6,000 If you’re considering hiring an apprentice, now is a great time to consider taking advantage of this ongoing government support.
If you're already getting Apprenticeship Boost payments for your apprentice, you'll keep getting these until 31 December 2024. That includes payments for apprentices in their second year.
